Luke Wines Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Wahluke Slope, Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThis is a solid Washington cab whose name honours the Whaluke slope. The final blend is 87/6/5/2 cabernet sauvignon / merlot / malbec / petit verdot. Despite its excellent purity of fruit, it can be a bit one dimensional, pitching that blackcurrant, cassis, chocolate story from front to back, and not a lot else. The tannins are well managed, and the textures are soft enough to drink now, so a broad spectrum of red wine drinkers will welcome it. Almost anything grilled off the barbecue will work here. It could be a preview of the Washington reds heading to BC this year to help fill the gap resulting from the considerable freeze damage that took out most of the 2024 vintage in the Okanagan and Similakmeen.Tasted: 16 August 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $43.99 | 750ml | select private wine shops |
