Finca El Encinal Roble 2022

Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainYou don’t get much for $21 these days, which is a wine crime in itself, but this tempranillo delivers right off the bat with a pleasant red fruit nose with hints of vanilla and spice. The grapes come from vineyards that average 30 years of age and are planted in loamy clay soil, which is noted by the density and weight of the wine in your mouth. The continental climate delivers fully ripe grapes and flavours. It spends 6 months in American and French oak barrels to add some extra mouthfeel and weight. The nose is a mix of red berries and cherries. It is perfectly rustic with more black cherry and vanilla, with some tannins yet to disperse. Roasted chicken or a simple grilled lamb chop would be a fine match.Tasted: 16 August 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
