Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBench Red is the type of wine that could help turn things around in the Okanagan. It is a well-made, approachable blend of merlot and cabernet franc, two grapes well suited to the region; that consumers would recognize selling at a price, most people can digest. It is a full-bodied but easy drink, pitching savoury dark cherry, blackberry, a streak of spice and a spicy undercurrent. You can serve a mid-week red with a broad appeal, such as a meaty pizza, spaghetti Bolognese, or a grill-fired steak.
