Tentenublo VLAV Rioja Tinto 2020

Rioja, SpainRoberto Oliván is the force behind Tentenublo, one of the growing band of Rioja winemakers focused on making single vineyard wines of place. Most of his vineyard plots (including his family's historic holdings) are situated his home village of Viñaspre, a high altitude site near Lanciego in Rioja Alavesa. Tentenublo translates as ringing bells, as in Rioja bells are rung to ward off hailstorms, hence the bell chasing the storm cloud on the label. This tempranillo, from vines averaging 50 years, was native fermented in large vats before resting 11 months in French barrels. Tightly wound wild blackberry, perfumed cherry rings on the medium+ palate, held taut with ample lofty acidity and fine, long and sticky tannins. The finishes closes out with a swell of warmth and perfumed black fruit. Fresh, modern, and authentic Rioja Alavesa.Tasted: 07 July 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
