Mason Vineyard The Landed Cabernet Franc 2020

Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaMy first experience with The Landed Cabernet Franc involved a vertical of three vintages: 2018, 2020, and 2023. Mason says the winemaking has been the same for all years, so it was an excellent opportunity to explore vintage variance, and a grape that Mason is firmly committed to exploring in Niagara. In 2020, the nose is highly expressive, almost lifted, tossing several cab franc scents at you, from leaves and earth to wild berries, dried thyme and spice. This collection spills onto the palate with a similar flavour profile that is only beginning to awaken. It is the richest of the trio. You can't buy this one at the winery anymore, but owners are not rushing to open it yet. I seldom write about cabernet franc and elegance unless I'm in Bordeaux or Bolgheri, but this wine has it in spades. Complex and sophisticated, just like its owner.Tasted: 24 July 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
