Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaKelly Mason’s Sparkling Blanc de Blancs Brut Hors Domaine is a delight. The talented winemaker with seemingly endless energy makes wine with the intensity and enthusiasm few can match. Yet, she leaves one of the slightest footprints in the business on her owners. This chardonnay, grown in the Twenty Mile Bench sub-GI of Niagara on the Lake, opens with an attractive floral nose dusted in an early morning bakery scents The palate is awash in peachy nectarine fruit, streaked with yellow fruits, but with a linear freshness and a persistent creamy finish. Tiny bubbles and big aspirations suggest this wine will age effortlessly, and this is only the beginning of what it can achieve with even more bottle time.
