Madrid, SpainEstablished in 1999, Las Moradas de San Martín was established to recover the centuries-old vineyards of Garnacha that had been cultivated there since the 12th century. Located in the hilltops of Pago de los Castillejos, they benefit from its altitude and granitic / volcanic soils, imbuing a natural freshness and minerality. Winemaker Isabel Galindo farms organically / biodynamically. This dry farmed bush vine garnacha comes from a vineyard at 900m, with sandy granitic soils. It was native fermented and aged 10 months in neutral French wood of various sizes. Candle wax, baked raspberry, and fragrant cherry works through this muscular and dense red, thankfully lifted and lofted with altitude acidity, and hugged with long, finely sticky tannins. A lot of wine stuffed into this 14% frame, finishing with scrubby wild rosemary on the lingering end. Give this some airtime in a decanter or your glass to really let it open and shine.Tasted: 06 July 2024Tasted by: Prices:
