Hester Creek Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 2023
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaHester Creek is going down the Bordeaux road in 2023 with a 60/40 mix of sauvignon blanc and sémillon that was all handpicked by the cellar team, whole cluster pressed and co-fermented in four 228 litre vessels, three of which were French oak. Post ferment, it was racked off, the barrels were cleaned, and the juice was returned to the barrel for five months of aging. In the glass, you get straw, juniper, and dried herbs, while on the palate, honeyed apples, citrus, and melon penetrate the wine from front to back. Rich yet restrained, with bright mineral tones in the finish, this is a well balanced, attractive white for the dinner table.
