Gneiss The Chief 2020

British Columbia, CanadaThe Chief is the best blended expression of the harvest, and in 2020, there was plenty of excellent fruit to blend from the top eight barrels. The fruit is hand picked and hand sorted on the crush pad and spends 18 months in French oak barrels. The blend itself, 55 / 35 /10 cabernet franc / merlot / cabernet sauvignon has a dash of petit verdot to perfume. Thanks to its soft, round nature and lush fruit, this is a highly likeable red you can enjoy now. The nose is a welcoming mix of red cherry and blackberry that spills onto the palate and penetrates that savoury south Okanagan finish. As fall approaches, any beef dish or richer root vegetable dishes would be a fine match.Tasted: 13 July 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
