Fort Berens Blanc de Blanc 2021

Lillooet, British Columbia, CanadaI like this Lillooet sparkling chardonnay wine that has spent 18 months on its lees. The nose is an inviting mix of almonds, and early morning bakery notes with just a hint of lemongrass. The palate is a lively, clean, and ripe apple with some leesy under notes, fresh and bright with a pleasing soft five g/L dosage. It is a fun bubble right now. Next time out, I would love to see more aging time in the bottle and complexity to take advantage of the pristine freshness of the Lillooet sub-GI. Technically, the grapes are whole-bunch-pressed and tank-fermented with selected yeast strains. Further sur-lie maturation occurs in the bottle over 20 months before riddling and disgorging. This was delicious with crab cakes.Tasted: 06 July 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
