Famille Sichel Château Daviaud 2020

Bordeaux, FranceAt the start of 2020, the Sichel Family took control of Château Daviaud, which was contributing to Sichel’s Bel Air cellar. When the Château went up for sale, they bought the entire vineyard and its infrastructure. 2020 is becoming a highly rated vintage where the best wines combine finesse with gravitas and opulence. This imposing blend mixes 45% merlot, 21% cabernet franc, 19% cabernet sauvignon, and 15% malbec, grown over limestone and gravel soils mixed with silica at lower elevations. The result is open, showy, spicy black cherries, blackcurrants, and blueberries, with silky, dense tannins, suggesting you could drink this through 2027. Charming is the word for this delicious modern reference to everyday Bordeaux. The styling is impressive. A serious bargain.Tasted: 14 May 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
