Dumol Wester Reach Russian River Chardonnay 2022
Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesDumol is an iconic California chardonnay producer known for its outstanding single vineyard labels, so I’m surprised to see the Wester Reach blend fruit from three Russian River sub-districts in this release. This wine blends fruits from the valley and vineyards further west to the coolest reaches of the high elevation coastal ridges. As you might expect, it is reflected in the wine, from broad orchard fruit to electric acidity, pear, and a rich, honeyed texture wrapped around citrus, hazelnuts, and pineapple. It's tight enough for the fans but rich enough to capture the California wine market. It’s a mix of Wente, Mt. Eden, and Robert Young clones, all aged 11 months, in 27% new French oak barrels.
