Thibault Ducroux Morgon 2022

Morgon, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceThibault Ducroux grew up in a winemaking family in Bojo but was inspired towards natural wines through reading Jules Chauvet. After working with some natural winemakers in Bojo and Jura, he began his winery with 1.25ha owned vines and 6.5ha total via long-term contracts, all organically farmed and in conversion. This Morgon comes from 2 vineyards he has contracts with, one in Les Charmes (40-year-old vines) and one in Corcelette (50-year-old vines) on granite and schist. After a whole bunch of carbo, this was native fermented and aged in concrete for eight months, bottled without fining filtration, and with minimal sulphur. Wild plums, wild blueberries pulse through the textured palate, grippy via the schistous soils and fine, long tannins. The finish lingers with crushed florals, pink peppercorn, and salinity. An honest and pure look at the Cru.Tasted: 12 April 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
