Tania and Vincent Carême Terre Brûlée 2021
Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaVincent Carême is a well-known Loire producer situated in Vouvray at Domaine Vincent Carême. Still, his wife Tania is from South Africa, where the couple has a 10-acre vineyard planted over decomposed granite in Swartland. They make wine in both places, and both hemispheres influence each other. Their flagship bottling is made with 40-year-old vines from Swartland's decomposed granite and shale soils at 656m altitude. There's a lovely chenin waxiness to this medium wine, giving layers of depth beyond its 13%. Salted quince, ripe pear, and green fig are lit with a buzzy granitic hum and stretch long across the stony palate. This confident, understated wine is showing beauty now, and with time ahead.Tasted: 06 April 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $23.99 | 750ml | BCLS Exclusive |
