Southern Valleys, Marlborough, South Island, New ZealandWinemaker Clive Jones has been around Nautilus for decades and has always been focused on making high quality wines. This Southern Valleys pinot pitches a complex mix of aromas, mixing earth and dark plums with spice. It is an elegant expression but not at the expense of mouth filling fruit and a persistent aftertaste. It is one of the best ever vintages for Kiwi pinot noir. The clones range from 114, 115, and 5, to 667 and 777. A small amount (20%) of whole bunch fruit is added to the fermentation after a 7-12 day cold soak. The wine is pressed off into new and older French oak barriques (25% new), where it remained without stirring until February 2020.Tasted: 13 April 2024Tasted by: Prices:
