Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMuse is another fine start from Maison Smith Monpetit. It is always delightful to taste wines that are well made right out of the gate because first impressions are significant in the wine business. Muse is a cabernet franc/merlot blend and a superb mix of red and blue fruit, pitching a full-flavoured but lively red with no sense of cooked or dead fruit. This is aged 30% in two-year-old French oak and 70% in neutral French oak barrels for only 12 months before being bottled, fined and unfiltered.
