Little Engine Silver Pinot Noir 2021

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaLike most top BC pinot, this is hand harvested, sorted in the vineyard, and then destemmed into 1 ton fermenters. It gets a 7 day cold soak as the musts gradually warm to allow for natural fermentation. The nose is open and vibrant, pitching an earthy, savoury rhubarb vibe, with strawberries and dried cranberries. The palate is riper, with moe earthy black raspberry and some baking spice lining the finish. It is approachable now but should continue to improve in bottles through 2025. The Silver Pinot Noir is all Naramata Bench fruit from estate vineyards mixing clones 115, 667, 777, 828, 91, 943 and Swan, yielding 2.5 tons per acre on average. Left to its own devices, pinot undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation, and matures in 2nd and 3rd fill and neutral barrels for 14 months with no racking until blending.Tasted: 19 April 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
