Hillside Heritage Series Syrah 2021

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaNaramata grown and raised, the fruit comes from 22 year old syrah vines inside Hidden Valley Vineyard, which sits just south of the winery above the Naramata Highway. There is fine density here with sweaty, earthy, Rhône-esque notes on the nose, with only a hint of campfire. The palate is fresh and full of vibrant red and black raspberry, with baking spices and bitter coffee in the finish. At 13.5%, it feels rich, and yet it is well balanced. This is a mid term red for drinking now through 2025. The ’21 received a 10 day cold soak, 18 days of skin contact, and 9 months in 37% new French oak. An impressive accomplishment in a difficult wildfire vintage.Tasted: 12 April 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
