LebanonFrenchman François-Eugène Brun fell in love with the Bekaa Valley during a visit, and set up Lebannon's first winery there in 1868. This blanc blends 65% viognier, 20% chardonnay, 10% obeidi, and 5% muscat d'alexandrie, from vineyards at 1050m. Crunchy and crisp, with green apples, green melon, and tart white grapefruit running a steely palate to a snappy finish. A subtle floral perfume hints at viognier, but tasted blind this is more akin to a cool climate sauvignon blanc.
