Champagne Domaine Nowack La Tuilerie Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 2018

Vallée de la Marne, Champagne, FranceFlavien Nowack is the current generation Champenois making wine, one in a long line of grower / producers in Vallée de la Marne's Vandières making wine since 1795. Since taking over in 2011, he moved to single parcel and single village wines, converting al the vineyards to biodynamics. This is entirely Chardonnay (rare from this area) on a mid-slope SW facing parcel of sandy limestone soils, on the right bank of the Marne. This was native fermented and aged in small barrel, unfiltered, before undergoing secondary ferment under cork, and a liqueur de triage of grape must. It was disgorged in January 2023 with under 1 g/L. Pouring a deeper lemon hue, this leans towards power, with smouldering crushed stones, apricot pit and skin, and crunchy yellow apple across a taut, uncompromising, and textual palate. A savoury, saline wine.Tasted: 10 April 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
