Black Chalk Classic English Sparkling Wine 2020
Hampshire, EnglandA definite step up from the Rosé, the Black Chalk Classic is a study in fruit and finesse. It is a traditional method sparkler led by chardonnay (50%), followed by pinot noir (38%) and pinot meunier (12%). There is a sense of precision here, beginning with a leesy, mineral, fruit flecked nose and a wonderful creamy texture full of lively orchard fruit mixed with citrus, salinity, wet stones, and a touch of the barrel through the finish. The effervescence is tiny but lacks a bit of persistence.
