Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMade from grapes sourced from Summerland, this layered pinot noir is crafted entirely from Pommard clones and underwent wild fermentation before aging for 13 months in French oak barrels, 25% new. It opens with exquisite aromas of sweet red berries, crushed violet, rose petal, clove, toasted spices, and a deep, mineral-rich earthiness. More complex aromas of savoury tea leaf and delicate florals unfurl as the wine opens up. On the palate, juicy fruit wraps around the smooth, silky tannins while the elevated, vibrant acidity carries through to the finish. A beautiful wine to enjoy now or cellar for further aging.Tasted: 22 July 2024Tasted by: Prices:
Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Spearhead Pommard Cllone label is sourced from Summerland on the west side of Okanagan Lake. Winemaker Grant Stanley macerated this fruit for 6 days, extracting colouring and tannins without building up alcohol, before a spontaneous fermentation took over, and it moved to 25% new French oak to age for 13 months. The nose is an open dark fruit affair, pitching black cherries and spicy florals. Juicy black raspberry and cherry finish with a savoury, earthy back end. Dare, I say, Bourgogne styled. More decadent dishes work here, like pork or duck.Tasted: 25 March 2024Tasted by: Prices:
