Scala Bianco 2022
Calabria, ItalyThe Scala family purchased this Calabrian estate in 1949, and it is forth generation Francisco who oversees the business side of the winery, while his father, Luigi, makes the wines. They organically farm 18ha of indigenous grapes, like this Greco Bianco (different from Greco di Tufo of Campania). These vines are from sand and clays around 150m, and the grapes were destemmed, gently pressed, and fermented and aged in stainless. Light and bright, this slip of a wine sails along the palate with a wash of lemon, pine nut, almond blossom, and river stones. This is a natural for spring veg dishes, and / or simple shellfish.Tasted: 19 March 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
