Luigi Einaudi Barolo Ludo 2019

Dogliani, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyThe not-so-regular Einaudi Barolo mixes Bussia fruit in Cannubiand Monforte d'Alba, with Terlo, from Barolo. Expect a classic red/burnt orange colour with a fragrance and a spice that seems more intense than most Barolo. The palate is full of power, red cherry, and a surprising lick of chocolate. The winemaking is simple: stainless steel ferments, some concrete, and 22-25 days of post-ferment skin contact before it goes through malolactic and heads for a long sleep in older barrels and more time in the bottle. The long, wet, rainy winter in 2018 was suitable for the vineyards in Piemonte, and a cooler spring helped to start the growing season gradually. Ultimately, the growing season was regular, with good sugar levels and perfect acidity. It has the balance to age gracefully through 2028.Tasted: 06 March 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
