Falernia Gran Reserva Syrah 2017
Valle del Elqui, ChileThis Elqui syrah combines macerated brambles, candied violet, and a rich meatiness. There's notable fruit ripeness here, both in terms of the liqueur-like character of the fruit and 14.5% abv, but there's a retained freshness that keeps this well balanced. The 2017 vintage is just starting to show a hint of tertiary development, but remains surprisingly youthful, with fine grained tannins that are nicely resolved at this stage. Drink now with summer barbeque fare, or continue to the cellar for another 5-7 years.
