Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceFrom the family-run and organically farmed Domaine Richaud, Terre de Galets blends 40% Mourvèdre, 35% Grenache, 15% Carignan, and 10% Syrah, from 30+ year old vines off 4 plots with noticeable stoniness (galets). Mostly destemmed (the carignan sees whole cluster) this sees a short maceration over native ferment before 8 months in concrete, and bottling without fining or filtration, and minimal SO2 throughout. The 14% is lifted with easy acidity (aided with a prickle of CO2 and a swell of reduction), streaming juicy plum, scrubby thorns, resinous purple florals, and pink peppercorns across sticky tannins, to a snappy and tart finish.
