Château Famaey Le Grez 2022
Cahors, Sud-Ouest, FranceThe Famaey Le Grez is an exciting red wine that impresses right out of the bottle. Alluvial deposits of gravel and quartz pebbles are mixed with clay from a plot of 20+ year old malbec called Le Grez. The winemaking is traditional, with 25 days of skin contact and 10 months in foudres before spending a full year in a 500L clay amphora. The wine is surprisingly elegant and soft, with bright acidity and florals that lift its black cherry, currants, and peppery notes. The finish is long but restrained, with well managed tannins.
