Champagne Pierre Paillard Les Terres Roses Bouzy Grand Cru Rosé XIX NV
Montagne de Reims, Champagne, FranceBrothers Antoine and Quentin Paillard are 8th generation vine growers and winemakers, carrying on the family tradition with father Benoit. The Paillard family has been growing vines and making wine in Bouzy since 1768, owning only Grand Cru vineyards with old vines via massale selection (no clones). They are truly a star of the grower champagne movement. As the label hints, this GC Rosé is from the 2019 vintage. This year's cépage was 64% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir (5% Bouzy Rouge), a surprisingly high chardy quotient for red-centric Bouzy, though the house norm for Pierre Paillard. After 30 months in the cellars, this was DG February 2023, with zéro dosage. Powerful and present, with smouldering red florals, wild raspberry, haksap berries, and a tart cranberry acidity that spines this to a lightly peppery finish. Always a delight to find this cuvée, and to partner with the dinner table.Tasted: 01 March 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:QC | $120.00 | 750ml | SAQ |
