Bardos Viñedos de Altura Ribera del Duero 2020

Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainOne of the mighty Vintae stable of wineries, Bardos is their Ribera del Duero project, between the villages of Fuentemolinos and Moradillo de Roa, at 950m. This is primarily old vine tinta fina (tempranillo) with tips of Albillo Mayor and Garnacha, rooted in sands and gravels over ferrous clay. It was fermented in large vats, with fermented in stainless before 1 years' rest in oak of various sizes. From this windswept and extreme terroir, a wild, full bodied red, layered with black cherry, thorns, tobacco, pencil shavings, and peppery baking spice. The ample tannins are well absorbed into the muscular fruit, with an inherent mountainous acidity to loft and carry this to the peppery, bitter cherry finish. Lovely typicity here, and one to reach for when you're grilling lamb.Tasted: 06 March 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
