Aldegheri Valpolicella Ripasso Santa Ambrogio 2019

Veneto, ItalySanta Ambrogio is a classic three way mix of corvina, rondinella, and molinara, and surprisingly fresh and light on its feet. The grapes are harvested in mid-to-late September and fermented in temperature controlled tanks. At the end of winter, the Amarone and Recioto musts are added for an extended fermentation period before they are all aged in oak barrels for 18 months, followed by more time in the bottle before release. The colour is seethrough ruby, signalling the fresh, plummy nose and tasty black cherry palate. Light yet fully flavoured, this is an impressive Valpolicella you can drink or hold. Try this with a classic Middle Eastern chicken dish, or mushroom pasta.Tasted: 29 March 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
