Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon Jack London Vineyard 2019
Sonoma Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesIt's been a decade since we have seen this wine. The fruit comes from Jack London Ranch Vineyard and will close in on four decades of production in 2026. The site sits mid-Sonoma Mountain on the east side, a cool site of volcanic soil that helps to temper the ripe fruit. The excellent 2019 vintage mixes 16% merlot with 3% syrah, which also tempers the richness of the cabernet. The dry, savoury black fruit is a Sonoma blueprint, and it is perfectly melded with its oak ageing, namely 26 months in a mix of French, Hungarian, and American oak barrels (30% new). Finally, mountain fruit is always more concentrated, adding just the right level of complexity to allow this red to age a decade easily. It is a beauty.Tasted: 08 February 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
