Champagne Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Special Club Oger 2017

Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceDidier, the third generation of the Gimonnet vine growing family, oversees the winemaking of this Côtes des Blancs grower champagne house based in Cuis, with 30 HA owned. Oger was the first of the single village Special Club releases, back in 2011. This comes from 4 lieu-dit in the GC's clay and chalky soils, was fermented in stainless with full MLF, and spent 60+ months sur lattes before being disgorged with 4 g/L. Creamy and powerful, with riper red apple, lemon curd kissed with oxidative notes and finishing with fine chalk. This bigger shouldered, muscular (for Gimonnet) BdB could handle any food pairings (think lobster).Tasted: 04 February 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
