Kirkland Signature Gigondas 2021

FranceLast year's version was good, and so is the 2021. Gigondas is a unique piece of dirt, and more often than not, the wines can be magical, so finding this wine in Costco is a wine drinker's dream. The GSM blend is heavily slanted toward grenache, with syrah and mourvèdre filling out the rest. It is made by Guillaume Gonnet, whose family winery is Domaine Font de Michelle. It Is not quite as intense as the superstar labels, but neither is the price. Look for an inviting roundness with a dusting of garrigue that complexes the cherries and black raspberries mid-palate, and the lightly smoked meat and earthy mushroom ending streaked with mineral and wet stones. Drink now through 2028.Tasted: 11 January 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
