Sicily, ItalyThis is the rarest of Vito’s wines, sourced from 40 sarme of Perricone, hence the name Quarantasarme. Sarme is an ancient system of measurement in Sicily, and 40 sarme equates to roughly 80 hectares, situated between Alcamo and Campo Reale. This organic Perricone spent one year in large oak barrels. Wild plum, blackberry, fragrant tayberry, red liquorice, and thorns flood the fleshy palate, framed with sticky tannins, and buoyed by marine acidity. Quite fragrant, this wild red finishes with lingering scrubby Mediterranean herbs.
