Meyer Family Vineyards Chardonnay Old Main Road Vineyard 2022
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFew chardonnays are as attractive as this wine, which is off the hop. Look for an inviting swath of reduction that draws you into this salty, fresh pear and apple affair, drenched in citrus. The flavours continue across the palate, adding hazelnuts and oyster liqueur. This is delicious stuff and should be a delight for chardonnay fans. the price is an outright bargain. The Old Main Road Vineyard's 26 year old vines sit over silty clay loams on the Naramata Bench, and were fermented in stainless at low temperatures before moving into French oak (25% new) and 11 months on its lees. It undergoes full malolactic fermentation but there is no bâtonnage.Tasted: 07 November 2023Tasted by: Prices:
Meyer Family Vineyards Chardonnay Old Main Road Vineyard 2022
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPreviously known as their Tribute Series Chardonnay, this Old Main Road vineyard's 26 year old vines are rooted in silt over clay loams. This was fermented long and cool in stainless before moving into French oak (25% new) for 11 months on lees, without bâtonnage, and with full MLF. It was bottled unfined and coarsely filtered. This opens with abundant alluring reduction which streams through the medium bodied wine, imbuing it with a potent salinity that colours the lemon, green apple, ripe pear, toasted flax, pencil shavings, fresh hazelnut that layers the palate. A lifted acidity easily carries this through a lingering saline finish. Quite forward, but carries this confidence very well. Very smart.Tasted: 03 December 2023Tasted by: Prices:
