Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe nose is awash in floral notes and desert undertones, while the palate is led by apricots, honey, and white fruits with a dusting of spice. As rich as it is, it is relatively dry and well-suited to ageing. If you are unaware of complex white wines, this is one to get to know. The fruit is whole cluster pressed and settled for 12 hours before moving to French barrels (35% new 225L barriques and 65% neutral 300L hogshead barrels) for a slow fermentation. In all, it aged nine months on its lees with zero stirring. This needs time to go the distance, but should peak near 2027.Tasted: 07 November 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom Naramata Bench's Quail on the Rail vineyard, this roussanne was whole cluster pressed and settled 12 hours before moving to French oak (35% new barriques and the rest neutral puncheons) for a slow fermentation and full MLF. This remained on lees for 9 months with no bâtonnage before heading to bottle unfined and unfiltered. Pouring a deeper yellow hue, this full bodied white rolls across the palate with cascades of perfumed honeysuckle, fragrant peach, ripe apricot, and potpourri spicing. There's a rod of potent lemon verbena giving backbone, and a lovely dusting of white pepper stringing out the finish. Not a shy wine, but an impressively powerful one.Tasted: 19 December 2023Tasted by: Prices:
