Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ItalyIn 1992, Piera Martellozzo was chosen by her father to manage their small family winery in Padua, becoming the 3rd generation in the wine business. Over the course of two decades, after moving and consolidating its headquarters in Friuli, the winery became an esteemed name in winemaking in the North East. Off sandy gravelled soils, these grapes were crushed and fermented warm in stainless, where it remained on skins until the following spring. Pouring a slight blush hue, this full bodied (14%) grigio feels surprisingly watery on the palate at first, with honeyed pear, yellow apple, and some gooseberry on the brief finish.
