Madonna Nera Brunello di Montalcino 2016

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyFrom hilly vineyards around the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, this was macerated and fermented in stainless over one month before resting 2+ years in 5 hectolitre French oak (new and second use). Tart and tight plum, baked cassis, and anise streak across a medium, leathery palate, lashed with dark cocoa and taut with grippy black tea tannins. Certainly a fresher, lifted and lighter style, this 2016 is showing a bit of age, and primed for enjoying now, ideally with ragu.Tasted: 20 November 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
