Vig Clone Len's Cuvée Pinot Noir 2020

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPenelope and Dylan Roche, owners of Naramata-based Roche wines, have launched a collection of labels tagged Vig (that's for vigneron or winegrower), which collaborates with renowned Canadian artists known for their bold style. The Roches asked each artist to create a label illustrating their sensory experiences when tasting the wine. The Len in this cuvée refers to Len Kozier, founder, and his wife Marion of Naramata's organic Kozier vineyard, the source for many of Roche's labels. This wine is from a selection of pinot noir clone 828 grapes, fermented in stainless and aged in Burgundian barrels (30% new) for 18 months. It is fragrant, with morello plums, dusky spice, and sweet wild cherries coursing through the gently plumped, medium-bodied palate. Tannins are tobacco-hewn and lightly sticky through a bittersweet cocoa and baking spice finish, while easy acidity keeps this highly food-friendly (ideally with wild mushrooms). Very pure and very Naramata, this darker-shaded pinot is drinking smartly now and over the coming years (sealed with a Diam10 closure).Tasted: 17 October 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
