Jumilla, Valencia and Murcia, SpainAs evidenced by the name, skull label, and hefty bottle, this is not a shy wine. From Finca Bacara, this is organic old vine monastrell from Jumilla, aged 1 year in American oak. Pouring a deep black cherry hue, this full bodied red is thick on the palate with perfumed cloves, dense blackberry, tobacco, medicinal cassis, mint, and fragrant purple florals. Tannins are chewy, and thankfully there is acidity to carry this across a baking spiced finish, in pretty sound harmony.
