Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalThe Meirles family has long owned vineyards around Vila da Lixa, selling their fruit to others, but in 1886 they decided to start making their own wines. They hired well-known oenologist Carlos Teixeira in the early 2000s to over see the project. They now have 52 hectares of vines across 6 estates. This special Private Collection tier, single vineyard wine spent 5 years on lees prior to release. Quite a rich and leesy nose surprises on the palate, with tart and tangy lemon / tangerine acidity, peach yogurt to a clipped finish. Lacking, at this point.
