One Faith Vineyards Grand Vin 2015
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOne Faith Grand Vin has a secretive grape source, Black Sage Road vineyards, located on a north-south benchland gravel bar. The region is primarily dry all summer and warm if not hot, but the season is short, emphasizing precision viticulture to ripen the grapes before the cold weather arrives. It is a yearly dance. The fruit is hand picked, hand sorted, and kept separate as they are fermented in open top French oak barrels. It spends 18 months ageing in French oak and is blended before bottling. The 2015 mixes 58% merlot, 25% cabernet sauvignon, and 17% cabernet franc. The medium dark wine has a dusty, dry, cedar nose that spills onto the palate. At eight years, it is already peaked, pitching leather and balsamic with cherry, prunes, and tobacco, all signs of ageing. The texture is wonderfully silky and smooth, so the best advice I can give you is to drink this now. Beef Wellington might be a fine match here.Tasted: 10 October 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $142.99 | 750ml | winery direct |
