Mt. Boucherie Original Vines Gewürztraminer 2022

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSouth Rock Vineyard sits at the southern tip of Oliver's famed Golden Mile Bench and is the oldest continuously farmed site in the Mt. Boucherie portfolio, with plantings dating back to 1972. The Original Vines Gewürztraminer block was planted in 1986, offering concentrated, dense berries of great spice and character. The must is left on the skins for approximately three weeks in stainless steel, developing richness, intensity, and a gentle tug of tannin before the ferment. The nose is a quiet mix of dry grapefruit, light rose petals, and candied orange peel. The attack is dry and rich with good freshness, a bit of litchi, and ginger, with more skin phenolics building through the finish. This is quite an exciting wine that sits nicely outside the standard gewürztraminer curve. Perfect for the curious, and dishes of delicate spice or more decadent Alsatian cuisine, such as the famous choucroute garnie.Tasted: 13 October 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
