Mathieu & Camille Lapierre Morgon 2021

Morgon, Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceSiblings Mathieu and Camille Lapierre took over the reins of their father Marcel's groundbreaking naturist wines in Beaujolais, carrying on the house's tradition of organic / biodynamic / estate. From 70 year old vines on sandy decomposed granites, this was native ferment, semi-carbo (no SO2) for up to 3 weeks before aging 9 months in older 216 later barrels. Tight and buzzy, this is lofted with iris, crunchy plum, raspberry, and perfumed cherry, framed with finely buzzy tannins and lit with an intrinsic minerality, easily streaming this to a lingering, saline finish. If you think Morgon is a brooding, built, darker shaded wine for the cellar only, please do try this, though give it some time to open.Tasted: 14 October 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
