Laughing Stock Vineyards Syrah +20/10 2020
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe LS Syrah has been a consistent performer, even after the sale to Arterra. The fruit source Perfect Hedge Vineyard has been altered to include blocks from Bull Pine and Bear Cub across the lake on the east side. It is all aged for 20 months in 37% new French oak (18% large oak puncheons). There is five percent viognier in the mix to freshen the palate and stabilize the colour of what has been a reasonably sophisticated syrah big on blue fruits and grilled meat streak with black raspberry and a touch of acid poking through. The growing season was terminated early, although it seems perfectly ripe, if a bit soft.
