JZ. Revolution Pink Solera NV

Weinviertel, Niederösterreich, Weinland Österreich, AustriaWhen Johannes took over the family's 350 year old organic Weinviertel winery in 2013, he began practicing biodynamics (Demeter certified), as well as introducing soleras, Qvevri, and skin contact white wines. Pink Solera blends approximately 50% Rösler from 2019, 40% Syrah from 2018 and 2019, and 10% St. Laurent from 2016-18. The Rösler is whole cluster pressed, fermented into stainless steel for fermentation, then matured in old 500L oak barrels. Syrah is whole berry fermented and matured in 500L oak. A portion of the St. Laurent solera is blended in for nuanced character. The blend is then aged on lees with full MLF, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no sulfur added. Pouring a hazy light crimson, this rosé is tart with rhubarb and early raspberry, subtle florals, and stony spice on a bright, slight 11.5% palate. The brief finish trails with peonies and light pink pepper. Certainly natural, and a curious experiment.Tasted: 23 October 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
