Domaine Pellé Morogues Rouge 2019

Menetou-Salon, Upper Loire, Loire, FranceThis family winery has been based in Morogues for four generations, in the Centre-Loire's eastern end. This pinot noir, their iconic red, is from 30 year old vines rooted in Kimmeridgian and Portlandian soils, shared with nearby Auxerrois and Chablis. After a native ferment over 3-4 weeks in wooden vats, this was pressed off into older wooden vats for aging. Dusky perfumed plum, black raspberry flood a sultry palate, threaded with thorns and rockrose, and framed with downy black tea tannins, finishing with ample crushed pink peppercorns and that characteristic limestone buzz. Give this well-knit red some time to open up in the glass, as it will really reward.Tasted: 05 October 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
