Bonnet Huteau Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie Les Gautronnières 2021

Muscadet, Pays Nantais, Loire, FranceMuscadet continues to be one of the most underrated, and best value, regions in the world of wine, and Bonnet Huteau shows why. Drawing on a 150+ year history, the domaine is organic and biodynamic since 2010, and produces a range of bottlings from four vineyards throughout Muscadet, each with its own unique soil type. Les Gautronnières is based on "green rocks and amphibolites," the latter a metamorphic rock formed from basalt, with vine age ranging from 15 to 30 years. It makes for seriously good Muscadet, with a combination of pure lemon and an abundance of wet stones and oyster shell that's backed by creamy lees, providing richness to the taut, precise frame. A wine that will undoubtedly last for another decade, though it's impossible not to drink now.Tasted: 13 October 2023Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
