Bessin-Tremblay Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2020

Chablis, Burgundy, FranceThis family estate (founder Jean-Claude, wife Evelyne, and son Romain) inherited her father's vines in 1989, based in the small village of La Chapelle Vaupelteigne, and redirected their lives into biodynamic winegrowing and making. These vines were planted in 1950-74, with additional plantings in 1996, 2001, 2012, rooted in Kimmeridgian marl and Portlandian soils. It was native fermented, whole cluster, with MLF in stainless, and bottled with light filtration. Quite a pure expression of the grape and place, with a silken and light lees bed housing bright lemon, green apple, and crushed stones, ending with a lingering saline wash. Subtle, gentle, and still taut, this is a quiet charmer.Tasted: 15 October 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
