1 Mill Road Black Pine Pinot Noir 2022

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt’s year one for Black Pine, a Naramata Bench vineyard whose pinot portion is planted to clones 667, 777, 115, and Pommard, joining two other Home Block pinot offerings. The 1-6 hectare bony, dry granite site is farmed by growers Kathi and Rick Prosser. 2022 was a long growing season, bringing the intensity of flavours, which is never a bad thing with northern pinot noir. Post ferment, it spent nine months in one, two and three-year-old oak before the final blend. The palate is a dusty, earthy, red fruit affair with cranberry, cherry, dried spices, and desert scrub. There is not a lot of charm, but there is some pinot sophistication, which will be fine with food or more time in the bottle.Tasted: 12 October 2023Tasted by: Prices:
